This is the second part of a previous post NFPA 72 Unlocked and Demystified for NICET Exam Part 1. I have decided to make it a video post so you can have a clear understanding of the material.

This video is about the NFPA 72,  The National Fire Alarm Code reference book, and explains how to use this book during your study for NICET exams and also how to use it in the actual exam. I will be talking about how I organized my book and go over a sample NICET practice test question and explain how to find the answer using this book. NICET Study Guide – NFPA 72 Chapter 4 Fundamentals of Fire Alarm (Part 2)

This is the second post of the most important notes from NFPA 72 Chapter 4 – Fundamentals of Fire Alarm Systems. Be sure to read Part 1 of this chapter in previous post.

  • Equipment shall be capable to operate at 85% and 110 % of nameplate voltage.
  • Equipment Shall be capable to operate at temperature between 32 and 120 Degree Fahrenheit (0-49 Celsius).
  • Equipment shall be capable to operate  at 85% relative humidity and 86 Degree ambient temperature.
  • in  an areas that are not continuously occupied, an Automatic  smoke detection shall be provide to protect fire alarm panels, NAC  power extenders and Supervising Station transmitting equipment. [click to continue…]

These are few notes from my previous study that I have kept since my initial Level I NICET Certification Exam. They are the most important requirements in Chapter 4, Fundamentals of Fire Alarm Systems – NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm Code. I have revised and updated a few of the codes for the 2007 edition. These requirements should be read over and over until memorized. This post will be a first in a series that I will post regularly.

  • The Purpose of fire alarm system is to alert the occupants, to summon aid and to control fire safety functions.
  • Equipment shall be listed for the purpose for which it is used.
  • Fire alarm system plans and specifications shall be developed by persons who are experienced in design, installation and testing.

NFPA 72 Unlocked and Demystified for NICET Exam (Part 1)

The NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code, is the most highly referenced and used guide by fire alarm system contractors, AHJ’s and anyone involved in the construction and fire industry. It is the standard on HOW things should be done when it comes to fire alarm systems. It covers the application, installation, location, performance, inspection, testing, and maintenance of the fire alarm systems and their components. The current edition of the code book is 2013, However as of today, NICET will test you on the 2007 edition and it is the only edition permitted in the exam room.
